Making an impact with Foresters Financial
At Foresters, we believe that families go beyond the walls of your home. It’s about the people around you, in your neighborhood, and in your community. Each year we support hundreds of community projects and provide many opportunities for members and their families to get involved and help those in need.
You might choose to take your family to a community event that supports one of our national charitable partners like KaBoom!, or organize your own charitable event with the help of a Foresters Community Grant, or even serve as an elected Branch Councillor to help support and provide oversight for Foresters local community activities, volunteer projects, and member activities.
There are so many ways that our members can volunteer in their communities, and so many ways to make a real, lasting impact.
Foresters Community Grants
If you have a special charitable organization that you want to support, you can apply online for a financial grant so you can organize a volunteer activity that’s meaningful to you and your local community. In 2016, we invested $5.4 million in member Community Grants – organized activities enabling more than 128,080 members and their families to spend quality time together, have fun, and give back.
Don’t know where to start? Depending on your interest, we have a range of activity planning guides to help you in your event planning:
- If you love the great outdoors and want to help spruce up your neighborhood, you could organize a Park Clean-up Activity or a Playfinders Activity.
- Love cooking or baking? Gather up your friends and family and host a Cookies with Care Activity or a Family Night Activity in support of your local Ronald McDonald House.
- If you want to support a homeless shelter or a women’s shelter in your community, you might consider organizing a Care Package Activity, a Breakfast Bags Activity, or a No-sew Blankets Activity.
All the resources you need to help you plan and execute your volunteer event are included along with the financial help from Foresters – and we’re there every step of the way to help make sure your event is as successful as possible. Click here to find how you can apply for a Community Grant.
Foresters Elections
Every year Foresters members are called upon to vote in Branch Elections to determine the local leadership of our member-led organization. Like any election, voting is critical. Choosing to vote means you’re making the important decision to exercise your fundamental right to make your voice heard. In the case of Foresters Branch Elections, it means you’re helping to influence what happens in your very own community.
If you want to take it one step further, you might even consider running for Branch Councillor. Branch Councillors play an important role in Foresters governance structure as they help guide how Foresters programs and resources are used to make a positive impact in your local community. Our councillors work with members across your area, and decide on ways that help Foresters improve the member experience.

If something in the world around you doesn’t seem quite right – or you have a suggestion for doing something better – the best way to affect positive change is to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself. We are awed by the thousands of member volunteers who give their time and energy to causes dear to their hearts every year. You are literally changing the world, and we are proud to do our part to help.
