Sharing on Social Media is easy!
We’ve shared some good information and advice about how to use social media to connect with friends and family including how to get started and how to stay safe online. With that under your belt, it’s time to talk about how to get more involved by sharing content you think might be interesting to others.
Social media is really just another way to communicate with those you care about. You can read about what’s on their mind, see photographs they’ve posted, accept invitations to groups where you can chat about specific topics, and so much more. Since this new form of communication is so important, especially for younger generations, it makes sense to stay up-to-date so you can continue to join in the conversations and stay connected.
How to share
Just like your mom always taught you, sharing is easy! These days it’s incredibly simple to share online content on a variety of social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
Take this article you’re reading right now, for example. You can use the social media buttons to the left of this screen, or scroll down to the bottom of the article where the text ends. You’ll see four colored boxes, each with a letter or symbol inside. The darker-blue box with the small “f” is for Facebook, the light-blue box with the white bird is for Twitter, the medium-blue box with the letters “in” is for LinkedIn, and the orange box with the “g+” is Google Plus. If you wanted to share this article with a friend or family member by posting it on your own Facebook wall, Twitter feed, LinkedIn page, or Google Plus account, all you have to do is find the correct box and click it. But remember, to share something you must have an account, to learn more about getting started on social media, click here.
Once you click the box, a separate window will appear giving you additional information. If, for example, you click the Facebook box, a new window pops up with a link to the article. In that new window, Facebook prompts you to say something about the article, if you so choose. After that all you have to do is click the “Post to Facebook” button at the bottom of the new window, and the article will be shared to your Facebook wall. Easy as pie!
Watch for symbols like these on other websites you’re browsing. Almost all websites that feature articles and other share-worthy content make sharing simple by putting the share symbols at the top or bottom of the content.
You can also email Membership Matters articles to friends and family. To do that, simply select and copy the URL of the page you’re on for this article it would be), and paste it into the body of an email.
If you prefer a more old-school form of sharing, we’ve even included a “print” button at the top right-hand side of each article to make it quicker and easier for you to print out a hard copy of any of our articles.
Sharing interesting and important articles with friends and family members is a good way to pass along information you think they may be interested in, and an even better way to stay connected and show how much you care.
