Summer snack attack
Once upon a time, sugary popsicles were a summertime snack staple. But things have changed, and we now know there are much healthier ways to add bursts of deliciously cool flavor to those long, hot days.
The most obvious thing to reach for in the summer is whatever fruit or vegetable is in season. To make them a true treat, dress them up. Put pieces of fruit on wooden skewers for a pretty, portable snack. Chill them in the fridge to make them extra delectable. Some fruits, like grapes, love the freezer too! Stem and rinse grapes, then place them on a lined baking sheet. Freeze until firm, then store in plastic baggies for quick treats you can eat straight out of the freezer!
You can also blend up the summer’s fruity bounty for a delicious, healthy smoothie. Throw in a handful of vegetables too—picky eaters will never know! Try one of these healthy smoothie recipes the next time you’re craving something cold and refreshing.
